改編自 Eleanor Atkinson 所寫的同名故事，這故事乃是根據真人真事所寫的。影片講述了一隻名叫 Bobby 的西高地白梗，在主人老牧羊人病逝后發生的故事。本片的主角是一隻叫 Bobby 的灰毛的蘇格蘭獵犬，他原本的主人是一位老牧羊人，大家稱呼為Old Jock ，Bobby 跟著老人由蘇格蘭遷到愛丁堡，但是沒想到老牧羊人卻患了肺炎過世，忠心耿耿的 Bobby 依然不願離開主人，即使主人已下葬，他還是留在墓園不離開。墓園看管者 Brown 太太也拿他沒辦法，而好心想收留狗兒的Trail 先生也無法讓 Bobby 跟他走，最後只好任 Bobby 留在原地。但是墓園不讓狗進入的禁令卻是不可更改，一個愛挑麻煩的警察於是來為難這幾位好心人，甚至還提出要收罰款的強制要求，有靈性的忠狗 Bobby 今後到底該何去何從呢？
