雅各布·金（史蒂文·西格 Steven Seagal 飾）是美國孟菲斯市的一名探員，在他10歲生日那天，雙胞胎兄弟丹尼爾被人殘忍殺害，這件事在他的心中留下難以磨滅的陰影，或許也間接影響到雅各布的辦案風格。他直爽粗暴，經常採取暴力手段對待嫌疑犯。雖破案無數，卻也備受警署內外的苛責。不久，一系列殺人案相繼發生，死者身上無一例外都被留下神秘的占星符號。在調查線索期間，雅各不捲入一系列的麻煩中，甚至被誣為連環殺手。與此同時，雅各布當年親手抓住的殺人狂比利（Mark Collie 飾）成功獲釋，他大開殺戒，並向雅各布展開瘋狂報復。
