As I Lay Dying 是聖地亞哥的一支Metalcore樂隊，樂隊於2001年由主唱 Tim Lambesis ,鼓手 Jordan Mancino 和吉他 Evan White 組成，不久就發行了 Beneath the Encasing of Ashes ,第2年又發行了 Beneath the Encasing of Ashes .到了2003年，樂隊在 Metal Blade 發行了第1張專輯 Frail Words Collapse 后吉他 Evan White 離開了樂隊，之後加入了2個吉他手 Phil Sgrosso , Nick Hipa 和貝司手 Clint Norris .新陣容在2005年錄製發行了新專輯 Shadows Are Security . 如果說歐陸金屬樂是一種病毒的話，那麼北美的金屬生力軍們，大多數都早已被這種美好的病毒“感染”了。而《Shadows Are Security》也“難逃此劫”，或許這一切都要歸功（或者歸咎）於樂隊的成員們，因為他們都是Soilwork、Inflames和The Haunted等樂隊的鐵桿歌迷。
