這個女人就是查理(布麗姬·穆娜飾)，她在狗公園裡與格瑞結識，並被格瑞介紹給山姆，可隨著查理與山姆關係的進展，格瑞也產生了一種很微妙的感覺，她也愛上了查理。查理是位事業有成的動物學家，聰明伶俐，是萬人迷類型的鄰家女孩。不過格瑞究竟為何會對查理情有獨鍾？格瑞決定保守秘密。

情感問題總不該影響工作，特別是在廣告公司里，格瑞必須對五花八門的客戶們有求必應，她極力將注意力放在工作上。格瑞的心理醫生西德尼(茜茜·斯貝西克飾)很快指出了癥結所在，可能是格瑞被誤導了，或者是兄妹間競爭的扭曲表現。

可是，格瑞需要傾訴的對象，她的好友兼同事卡麗(莫莉·香儂飾)似乎是不錯的人選，可如果卡麗知道了自己的心事，那全辦公室的人也都會知曉。格瑞同哥哥山姆一向無話不談，可山姆不但在忙於外科醫生的實習工作，還在一心籌備自己的終身大事，更何況，總不能對已經訂婚的準新郎訴說對他未婚妻的迷戀吧。

格瑞決定逃避，希望快速的將自己託付給某個男人。然而，連計程車司機高迪(艾倫·卡明飾)都能看出格瑞的心思，認為她該去尋找自己的真愛，願意助她一臂之力……
