堂堂：盛大的樣子；正正：整齊的樣子。原形容強大整齊的樣子，現也形容光明正大。也形容身材威武，儀錶出眾。

《孫子•軍爭》：“無要正正之旗，勿擊堂堂之陳，此治變者也。”

《孫子．軍爭》：“無邀正正之旗，勿擊堂堂之陳，此治變者也。”杜佑註：“正正者，整齊也；堂堂者，盛大之貌也。”后因以“堂堂正正”形容強大嚴整。《封神演義》九四回：“真是堂堂正正之師，弔民伐罪之旅。”
