1.glumelle

小麥等植物花中白色的硬殼，無顯著的中脈和芒，外面有外稃包著

對植物的子房起到保護作用。

實質是，相當於形成小穗各外穎片腋部生長的枝，其上花柄基部的一對先出葉在近軸側面癒合的結構。另外還有內穎、花穎等名稱，較為紛亂。一般果實被內稃包覆得很緊，但裸麥（Secalecere-ale）籽粒容易從內稃脫出。
