《I Love Rock N' Roll》最早是由英美組合樂隊The Arrows的美國主唱Alan Merrill寫於1975年，並錄製發表了第一版。美國搖滾歌手Joan Jett 1976年在英國巡演時在看到了The Arrows表演這首歌，並在1979年和Sex Pistols的兩個成員一起錄製了自己的版本。在1981年又和她自己的組合The Blackhearts重新錄製發布了這首歌，隨即爆火，佔據美國公告榜第一名七周之久，並被美國公告榜評為1982年年度歌曲第三名，單曲被美國唱片工業協會認證為白金，包含這首單曲的專輯銷量超過200萬張，在美國公告榜排名的200個最流行專輯中排名第二。Joan Jett於2016年正式入選格萊美名人堂。
