研究領域

維管植物比較形態學、植物解剖學、化石植物分類學、演化植物學環境生物學
遵循植物演化生物學的思想,從生命科學環境科學兩個方面,研究陸地植物起源演化及其與全球環境變遷的相關關係。長期以來,通過研究植物演化過程中處於重要環節的類群,整體重建重要的絕滅類群,恢復植物演化序列,揭示其演化機制和規律;同時獲取生物演化事件和化石植物富含的環境和氣候信息,從生物學角度認識環境演變過程和規律,認識史前自然災難,在長時間尺度上探索和理解全球變化趨勢。其領導的研究團隊主要致力於以下研究:1)陸地植物起源和演化;2)新生代植被演替及其對全球氣候變化的響應;3)第三紀東亞-北美、東亞-歐洲植被的關係;4)人類早期活動與自然環境的關係,取得了一系列原創性研究成果,積累了豐富經驗,發表研究論文150多篇;主要研究成果發表在美國、英國、德國、加拿大和荷蘭等國際核心刊物上;
