阿道司·赫胥黎
英格蘭作家，代表作《鉻黃》
阿道司。赫胥黎(Aldous Leonard Huxley, 1894年7月26日－1963年11月22日)1894年7月26日出生於英國薩里郡的戈德爾明，屬於著名的赫胥黎家族。祖父是生物學家、進化論支持者托馬斯·亨利·赫胥黎(Thomas Henry Huxley,1825—1895)。少時就讀於伊頓公學，后畢業於牛津大學的巴利俄爾學院。英格蘭作家。
17歲完成第一部小說（未出版），並在20歲之後開始嚴肅的寫作，1932年創作的《美麗新世界》讓他名留青史。代表作品有《鉻黃》《男女滑稽圓舞》《光禿禿的樹葉》《點對點》等。
1963年11月22日下午5時20分在洛杉磯去世，享年69歲。

曾想做醫生，卻因為視力障礙改變初衷，從事了文學。作為生物學家的兒子，他從小受到良好的教育。他對人類生活中的矛盾具有超人的預見力。一次眼疾幾乎讓他視力全失。

育有一子馬修·赫胥黎（1920年4月19日-2005年2月10日），後來成為作家、人類學家和流行病學家。
1919年，他與在加辛頓遇到的比利時女子瑪麗婭·妮斯（1899年9月10日-1955年2月12日）結婚。
1955年妮斯死於乳癌。
1956年與作家勞拉·阿切拉結婚。她創作了赫胥黎的傳記《時光消逝的瞬間》。
簽名
臨終時已經無法言語，他通過手寫向妻子勞拉要求“麥角二乙醯胺，100毫克，肌肉注射”。根據勞拉在《時光消逝的瞬間》中的記載，她服從了，在早上11時45分完成了一次注射，並於幾小時后完成了另一次。
1963年11月22日下午5時20分在洛杉磯去世，享年69歲。骨灰被安放在英國薩里郡康普頓沃茨公墓的家族墳墓里。
