溫之平,男,教授,博士生導師。1984-1987年在江西農業大學工作;1990年至今,在中山大學大氣科學系工作。其間,1992年11月至1993年3月參加世界氣候研究計劃之“熱帶海洋和全球大氣研究計劃-耦合海洋大氣研究試驗”(TOGA-COARE);2004年6月在義大利國際理論物理研究中心(ICTP)進行短期訪問;2010年1-2月在日本東北大學地球物理系訪問。2000-2015年曾任中山大學大氣科學系系主任。並曾兼任國家自然科學基金委員會第十四屆專家評審組專家、全國百篇優秀博士論文通訊評審專家、國家重點基礎研究發展規劃(973)項目和國家重大研究計劃-全球變化研究項目通訊評審專家。現任中山大學季風與環境研究中心主任。
現兼任國際氣象學和大氣科學協會中國委員會(CNC-IAMAS)委員、世界氣候研究計劃中國國家委員會(CNC-WCRP)委員、全球能量與水分循環計劃中國委員會(CNC-GEWEX)委員、國際地圈生物圈計劃CNC-IGBP-GAIM工作組成員。中國氣象學會理事、中國氣象學會熱帶海洋氣象學委員會副主任、中國氣象學會氣候學委員會委員、中國氣象學會動力氣象學委員會委員、中國氣象學統計氣象學委員會委員、中國氣象學會氣象教育與培訓委員會委員。廣東省氣象學會副理事長、廣東省氣象標準化委員會副主任。中國氣象局-南京大學氣候預測研究聯合實驗室首屆學術委員會委員、中國科學院大氣物理研究所季風系統研究中心學術委員會委員、中國科學院寒旱區陸面過程與氣候變化重點實驗室學術委員會委員、蘭州國際環境蠕變研究中心學術委員會委員。《Advance in Atmospheric Sciences》、《大氣科學》、《大氣科學學報》、《高原氣象》、《氣象科學》等雜誌編委。《Journal of Climate》、《Climate Dynamics》、《Journal of Geophysical Research》、《Geophysical Research letters》、《Monthly Weather Review》、《International Journal of Climatology》等國際重要期刊審稿人。
