近5年主持國家重點研發計劃項目課題、國家自然科學基金、環保部行業項目課題、湖南省自然科學基金、地理國情監測湖南省重大項目、中國博士后科學基金面上/特別資助、資源環境與信息系統國家重點實驗室開放基金A類（重點）、中南大學創新驅動計劃第二批等科研項目20項，中南大學研究生與本科生教學改革研究項目2項、參與國家863、環保部行業公益、美國EPA環保專項等科研項目6項，發表學術論文近90篇（在領域世界知名SCI/SSCI期刊Remote Sensing of Environment、International Journal of GeographicalInformationScience、Atmospheric Environment、Sicentific Reports、Applied Geography等發表學術論文35篇 (JCR 1區19篇）,被國外SCI論文引用760餘次，其中高被引論文1篇） ，出版學術專著1部，參與編著4部，申請國家發明專利8項（已授權4項），獲批國家軟體著作權登記13項。

先後多次受邀在香港中文大學、復旦大學、武漢大學、中山大學、北京師範大學、華東師範大學、中國測繪科學研究院、中國環境科學研究院、中國疾病預防控制中心（CDC）、湖南科技大學、湖南文理學院等機構做學術報告或講學。研究成果已初步形成了“從理論到方法到技術”的完整的轉化應用鏈條，得到了國內外同行、地方政府、行業部門的高度認可和社會媒體的廣泛關注，兩次由政府組織專門新聞發布會對社會公眾予以了發布、獲CCTV13、湖南經視、央廣網、新華社、科技日報、新浪網等30多家媒體報道。
